£15 and a few hours of work Dan. Trialed it on the Red One as well just for giggles and it works as advertised.

This is a bit preemptive really as hopefully i won't need it for the Special but i will need it for Paddy. However things have happened before when cutting metal out and i have a feeling i will still find further rust on the Special yet.

Carrying on with the boot floor and hinge panel to day.

Few measurements first then off with the old hinge panel. Oh and the boot aperture if anybody needs to know vertically lip edge to lip edge is 38 cms and from the bottom lip edge to the bottom of the rear bulkhead is 23 & 3/4"s

Loving the pics.

I have these repairs to do on mine next. I have gone for the cheapo option of 3 part rear hinge panel and boot repair panel. Is yours the Heritage panel?

I only seem to have about an half inch of rot on my hinge panel (just the seam and flange) so I am hoping to trim the panels to fit and leave as much of the original metal as possible. This will mean a longer weld; do you think the full panel would be easier?

Jason

Jason due to the amount of rust showing on either side of the hinge holes and around the corners it was easier to use a full width panel. There was a lot of surface rust under the flange as well.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and to be honest replacing the whole panel will be wiser in the long term.

Cheers Dan, i never realised how much of a faff getting the panel to line up is. It was poorly cut by Heritage so need a trim up under the lights section to get a decent straight line.

I have been think this and is why I am putting this job off. I don't mind spending the money but am worried about messing up the size/shape of the opening.

I will prob chop the rot out and see how bad it is. Have you trial fitted the boot lid?

No i have not but i took a load of measurements first as i stated in my first post and i will use these to get the aperture the same. I don't have the boot lid for this car as it goes but i can use one we have laying around.
